I am overwhelmed with the way my husband loves me. I am overwhelmed with the way my husband loves me. His love for me is everything God designed it to be. Yes, this is a picture of a smoothie, but it's so much more than that. The care that he put into making me this smoothie is just a smidgen of the care he puts into showing me I am loved every day in a million different ways. (That mini-carrot garnish!)

Thank you, Jimmy Martin , for choosing to grow alongside me in this crazy life.

The KJV says "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."

BUT the Aramaic Bible in Plain English says "...I shall make a helper for him LIKE HIMSELF."

Any love and help that I give my husband is just a reflection of what he gives me. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Cover designs can take different directions. Some Cover designs can take different directions. Some genres and subgenres will heavily dictate the direction while other genres may host more than one.

One direction commonly used in the self-help space is a design that uses a single element separate from the text.

One of our neighbors gifted us her fireplace mantl One of our neighbors gifted us her fireplace mantle from her old house, and my hubs has been hard at work (sanding, scraping, gluing, clamping, and probably some cussing, lol) bringing it up to good health for my Christmas present. We're not done but it's perfect for now. Jimmy is an all-around amazing craftsman. I am so thankful for him. And my mantle <3 Merry Christmas!
Congrats to Rachel Hilz on having both of the book Congrats to Rachel Hilz on having both of the books in her "Santa's Lost" series make the top 100 (spots #7 and #11) in Amazon's Children's Christmas Books category.

You'll often hear me say, "Teamwork makes the dream work," and this is one of those times. @selfpubmadesimple brought a great team together for Rachel. One of my strengths is concepting and finalizing the cover design, and Remesh Ram was a great illustrator to work with to bring it all together on both covers.
"My Friend, the Marshmallow Man" just launched on "My Friend, the Marshmallow Man" just launched on Kickstarter, and it has already received the "Project We Love" badge. Check it out here. I love the information the author included on the Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/marshmallowman/my-friend-the-marshmallow-man

I am very selective about which children's book projects I take on. Creating a quality children's book that puts the children first (not the author's vanity) requires a minimum of 4 team members: 1) the author, 2) the editor (developmental, copy edit, and proofread), 3) the illustrator, and 4) the production artist to bring it all together. And although I don't require the books to be professionally printed, with platforms like @kickstarter to help fund professional printing, there's no reason not to give kids our very best.

A Christmas (Wreath) Story Ever since we sold our A Christmas (Wreath) Story

Ever since we sold our first home (aka The Yellow House, aka Casa Amarillo de Martin, aka Our Forever Home) ten years ago (so Jimmy could start his career as a TDCJ chaplain), we have been a bit nomadic.

They say that home is where the heart is, and my heart has never been at home in any of those other places. This resulted in minimum decor and next to no Christmas decor. We haven't even had a tree in five years.

We get asked why we moved to Beeville (South Texas), and the answer is I fell in love with an old home with a big yard, 12-foot ceilings, and original wood floors. (K, so they aren't in the best condition but we're going to love them back into good health.)

Now that my heart is home, it is ready to decorate our home for Christmas.

Unfortunately, we got rid of all of our Christmas decorations (except our stockings) when we were heading to live in the VI (covid restrictions interfered so we had a family gap year on the east coast of Florida then came back to Texas), and I've waited too late to get started shopping. I was so looking forward to selecting a beautiful wreath for our front door on Wednesday but they were all picked over and nothing made my heart sing (all decor must make my heart sing!). But we did at least purchase some lights for the exterior of the house.

When we were unpacking the lights at home, a wreath hanger surfaced. Jimmy had added it to our buggy in optimism and forgot to put it back when we couldn't find a wreath, so I was home, wreathless but with a wreath hanger and sad I had no wreath to hang upon it.

Thursday evening, an unexpected delivery arrives. And lo and behold, it is the most perfect wreath!

Thank you, Donna M Berger, for this gift. I couldn't love it more! It makes my heart sing!

Donna is a client turned friend and "Living through Loss: A Memoir of Recovering Joy after Cumulative Grief" is her new release. Look how beautiful it looks in the wreath! Perfect, I tell ya! (Available at https://amzn.to/3V5MavB)
