Cindy Wider’s picture book illustrations are reminiscent of the golden age of picture books— the perfect blend of color, personality, and great artistic decisions. 

Not only is Cindy an ambassador for Derwent Art and St Cuthberts Mill Products, she is also an art therapist, art lifestyle coach, and author of art technique books, which showcase her work with both colored pencil and charcoal.

During the development of Cindy’s debut picture book, I had the pleasure of spending many hours with her via Zoom. In addition to being an amazing artist, she was always so, so sweet and kind throughout the whole process. Or at least her Australian accent had me convinced that was the case 🙂 She was also tickled with my East Texas twang. We made quite the pair and had lots of laughs along the way.

What I loved best about working with Cindy is that she is a professional who values what a fellow expert brings to the table. I never once felt like she was treating me like I was a screwdriver or less-than. Our time together was spent in a true partnership, and I’m very blessed to know her.

Like me, Cindy also has a passion for teaching others her craft. From realism to abstraction, children’s book illustration styles and representational art in its many forms, Cindy works with artists in seven different mediums.
